JOYNEWS IMPACT MAKERS FOUNDATION BRIEF
Impact Makers Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental, and 100% charitable organization
established exclusively for charitable and community development purposes in Ghana. The Foundation,
among others identifies, supports, and promotes individuals who, through voluntary action and limited
personal resources, advance social welfare, education, health, agriculture, science and technology, and
youth development in underserved communities.
Its flagship program, the JoyNews Impact Makers Awards, provides recognition and resources to expand
the work of these grassroots change makers. While commercial sponsors may contribute funding for
program sustainability, no part of the Foundation’s income or assets benefits any private individual,
trustee, or entity. All funds received are applied solely toward charitable purposes in furtherance of the
Foundation’s mission to advance social justice and community development.
IMPACT MAKERS CONCEPT
Background
Provision of basic developmental needs at the local community level in Ghana has always been at a snail
pace and in some cases, it is practically non-existent. This has brought a lot of untold hardships on such
community dwellers causing them to live in undignified circumstances. There are however a few people
who despite the inadequacies and lack around them go the extra mile to sacrifice their little resources,
talents and skill to make life comfortable for their communities. Their only challenge however is the
limited resource, network or a perfect platform to expand their impacts.
The JoyNews Impact Makers Awards identifies and honours such ordinary individuals who are making
extraordinary impacts in their communities through their selflessness and ingenuity all in a bid to
promote social justice. The objective is to boost the morale, showcase to corporate Ghana and the
world at large these selfless individuals and afford them the opportunity to expand on whatever they do
to enable them to impact more lives. In doing so, JoyNews hopes to encourage development at the local
community level while lessening the citizens’ dependence on the central government for the provision
of such basic developmental needs irrespective of their geographical location.
Selection Process:
