Awards Brief

  1. Overview
    The JoyNews Impact Makers Awards (JIMA) is an annual initiative by JoyNews, the English
    brand of The Multimedia Group Limited. It is dedicated to recognising and celebrating ordinary
    individuals making extraordinary contributions to their communities across Ghana. Since its
    inception in 2023, JIMA has spotlighted selfless acts that often go unnoticed, providing a
    platform to honor and amplify the efforts of these unsung heroes.
    Twenty-one (31) individuals from over ten regions of Ghana have so far been honoured under
    the awards scheme. It is broadcast live on TV and Radio for two hours and scheduled for several
    repeat broadcast throughout the year.
  2. Objectives
    a) To honor individuals who are making extraordinary impacts in their local communities
    and are promoting social justice.
    b) To enhance the JoyNews Brand and enforce the brand identity as strong, influential and
    market leading.
    c) To strengthen and promote strategic partnerships between sponsors, advertisers,
    nominees and winners
  3. Award Categories
    Over the past three years, the awards have covered various categories, including but not limited to

    b) Health and Wellness
    c) Youth Empowerment
    d) Environmental Sustainability
    e) Social Entrepreneurship / Welfare
    f) Community Development
    g) Agriculture
    h) ICT Literacy
    i) Mental Health Interventions
    j) WASH
    k) Women and Youth in Philanthropy
    3.1. New Categories
    a) Disability Inclusion Champion Award – Strong social justice narrative
    b) Corporate Impact Partner Recognition – Create space to reward companies and
    institutions, not just individuals
  4. Nomination and Selection Process
    Nomination is solicited from the public through multiple media platforms, TV, Radio Online and
    digital media for a period of one month. Using a defined criteria, JoyNews Research Desk,
    News Editors, and project team members will review nominations and submits to a team of
    external Judges for the vetting and final selection of best 10 nominees for the awards. The
    criteria used by both teams include Impact, innovation, sustainability, and level impact.
  5. Sponsorship Opportunities
    We invite partners and sponsors to support this initiative through financial contributions, in-kind
    services, or collaborative promotions. Benefits include brand visibility across JoyNews
    platforms, acknowledgment during the event, and associations with the JoyNews Impact Makers
    Awards.
