Bless Lantam is a dedicated nurse at the Keri CHPS Compound in the Nkwanta South Municipality, where he provides essential healthcare to hard-to-reach and conflict-affected communities.

Impact & Achievements

Even before the current crisis, the communities he serves were difficult to access, often requiring hours of travel on foot through dense forests and across rivers to deliver basic services such as Child Welfare Clinics, antenatal care, and family planning. During these outreach efforts, he identified a high number of out-of-school children and partnered with Write4Change to help connect them to formal education opportunities.

Since 2023, a protracted tribal conflict has disrupted life in Keri, displacing families, halting routine healthcare services, and forcing the occupation of the health facility by security forces. Despite these challenges, Bless took the initiative to organize monthly outreach missions, working with a small team and security escorts to continue delivering care to affected communities.

Through these outreaches, he has vaccinated children who missed essential immunizations, provided antenatal and maternal care, ensured continued access to family planning services, and traced defaulters to bring them back into care. He also identifies malnourished children, treats common illnesses early, and refers severe cases for further management.

His work has helped improve child survival, reduce the risk of disease outbreaks, and support safer pregnancies and deliveries. At the same time, he continues to encourage families to return children to school where possible, reinforcing both health and social stability. Bless’s impartial and consistent presence has helped rebuild trust across divided communities.

For many residents, he remains the only reliable link to formal healthcare, providing not just treatment but reassurance during a time of uncertainty. His work is driven by a simple belief: no mother or child should be denied care because of distance, poverty, or conflict. He remains committed to serving wherever the need is greatest, helping to save lives and strengthen resilience in one of the most challenging environments.
