Faith Aku Dzakpasu is a passionate and innovative educator from Ghana with nearly 13 years of experience in teaching and community service.
Impact & Achievements
Growing up in conflict-affected Bimbilla in northern Ghana, her education was often disrupted. Yet those early challenges, along with the influence of her mother, a teacher, and her class one teacher, Mr. Oben, inspired her to begin teaching her peers informally.
That experience shaped her lifelong commitment to education. Her approach to teaching is grounded in inclusion and practical learning. She uses research-based methods such as Layering Text and Cross Text Analysis, and blends them with digital tools like ChatGPT, Canva, and 3D modelling software to make lessons more engaging and accessible. She has also created learning support spaces for students with disabilities and designed flexible teaching modules that help all learners thrive.
Beyond the classroom, Faith has led several initiatives to tackle real barriers to education. She founded the READ project and developed the READ101++ model to improve literacy and reading skills. Through the School Girl Rebranded Project, she has addressed period poverty by introducing sanitary pad dispensers, biodegradable cloth pads, and improved changing spaces, helping girls stay in school with dignity and confidence.
Her impact extends further into the community. She launched the Street School Project to reach out-of-school children and the Creative Aid Agenda, which has trained over 4,200 people in practical skills such as biodegradable paper bag production. She also runs the Mother of Many Missions initiative, supporting orphans with basic needs and education, and leads “Reinventing Behind Bars,” a program that equips incarcerated women with life skills for reintegration.
Faith is equally committed to environmental sustainability. Through her Eco Innovation Program, she teaches students how to recycle waste into useful products while promoting habits like tree planting and waste segregation. She integrates the Sustainable Development Goals into her teaching and encourages students to think globally and act locally. Her work has delivered clear results. At Odorgonno Model School, she helped 39 students excel in the Basic Education Certificate Examination, with one receiving the Head of State Award.
Her teaching methods have also improved student attendance, confidence, and performance. She supports fellow educators through training programs like the Rebranded Teacher Academy and her “Teachers Spice Pack,” which has equipped many teachers with practical classroom strategies. Faith’s efforts have earned national and international recognition.
She was named Ghana’s Most Outstanding Teacher at the 2023 Ghana Teacher Prize and selected among the top 50 finalists for the 2025 Global Teacher Prize. Her journey reflects resilience, creativity, and a deep commitment to service, as she continues to transform education and uplift communities in Ghana and beyond.
