Miss Issabella Akwaboah is a seasoned educator and social entrepreneur with 15 years of service within the Ghana Education Service.

Impact & Achievements

Her mission is deeply personal, shaped by her own experiences with menstrual health challenges and the physical, emotional, and academic impact they can have on young women. Her understanding of these issues was further deepened through years in the classroom and community interactions, as well as volunteer work in 2016 that exposed her to widespread menstrual health and dignity challenges affecting girls.

These experiences inspired her to establish the Amazing Girls Foundation, transforming years of observation into a structured effort to support girls across Ghana. Isabella is a strong advocate for menstrual equity, driven by the belief that no girl should miss school because of her menstrual cycle.

Her work focuses on ensuring that girls have access to affordable, dignified, and sustainable menstrual health solutions so they can remain in school and thrive academically. In 2025 alone, she led the foundation to reach 6,365 women and girls with menstrual products and reproductive health education.

She also established a production hub in Senya Beraku that manufactures eco-friendly reusable menstrual kits, while creating jobs and skills training opportunities for women in the community. The foundation is now scaling its operations with a target of reaching 15,000 girls in 2026, with a strong focus on sustainability through reusable hygiene solutions and community-based support systems.

Isabella’s work is guided by her belief that education is the greatest equalizer, but only when girls are able to stay in school. Through her efforts, she continues to remove barriers that prevent girls from learning and achieving their full potential.
