The Cape Coast Youth Development Association (CCYDA) is a community-based organization based in Cape Coast dedicated to empowering young people and promoting sustainable development in the Oguaa area.

Impact & Achievements

CCYDA focuses on building responsible, skilled, and confident youth who can contribute positively to their communities and the nation. CCYDA provides youth empowerment and mentorship through counseling, guidance, and role-model support to help young people make good life choices.

It promotes education by supplying learning materials such as 21,000+ exercise books, student trunks, chop boxes, mattresses, school bags, and laptops to needy learners, as well as organizing quiz competitions and scholarship opportunities in fields like Medicine, Law, and Technical Education.

The Association also runs skills and leadership programs, apprenticeships, and entrepreneurship training that have reduced youth unemployment and empowered young women in areas such as fashion, make-up, photography, beading, and event decoration. Through regular health and sanitation campaigns, community clean-up exercises, and environmental awareness activities, CCYDA improves public health and green spaces.

It organizes football competitions, youth forums, leadership programs, and supports the refurbishment and construction of community monuments, strengthening unity and volunteerism. In health and social welfare, CCYDA conducts free screenings, supports NHIS registration, and facilitates MASLOC loans to help traders grow their businesses and improve living conditions. Culturally, CCYDA partners with the Oguaa Traditional Council to preserve heritage, honor distinguished personalities, and celebrate Oguaa traditions, which strengthens community pride and identity.

Its flagship Cape Coast Edufest (launched in 2025) promotes academic excellence, career awareness, and mentorship connections for students. Overall, CCYDA has empowered thousands of youth, improved education, reduced poverty, strengthened community leadership, and enhanced social cohesion. Operating with a grassroots, volunteer-driven, and people-centered approach, CCYDA continues to invest in youth as key agents of long-term change, making it a trusted partner for youth empowerment and community development in Cape Coast.
