Dr. Anthony Akunzule is a selfless philanthropist whose work has transformed education, health, and livelihoods in rural communities across Ghana.

Impact & Achievements

Through his support, he has facilitated the drilling of numerous boreholes in schools, significantly improving access to clean water, reducing absenteeism, and enhancing students’ concentration and academic performance. In many of these schools, communities have also developed school gardens using the water, improving nutrition and practical learning for pupils and teachers.

Dr. Akunzule has empowered women in rural areas by providing microfinance businesses, enabling them to start small enterprises such as shea butter production, frying koose and kulikuli, making maasa and zoom‑kom, and other petty trading activities. He has also supported women in basket weaving by providing funds to buy raw materials, helping them produce and sell baskets for regular income.

These initiatives have improved the economic independence of women, enabled them to meet their basic needs, and contributed to the reduction of poverty in their communities. He has sponsored the education of many needy students, including training a nurse at the Bolgatanga Midwifery School through a local partner, and supporting others in fields such as nursing, medicine, teaching, and other professions.

His sponsorship has opened doors to quality education and better livelihoods for young people who would otherwise have been unable to continue their studies. To support poor but brilliant students and their families, Dr. Akunzule has provided goats and fowls for rearing, enabling parents to generate income that pays for school needs, food, shelter, and clothing. He has also donated books, sandals, pens, pencils, and school uniforms in all schools where he has provided boreholes, helping pupils learn in dignity and reducing the financial burden on parents.

Through these interventions, Dr. Akunzule has improved access to clean water and education, reduced waterborne diseases, enhanced women’s economic empowerment, and lifted the living standards of many families. His work continues to serve as a powerful example of compassion, commitment, and impactful community development in Ghana.
