Felix Akonta Akakpo, from the Lente Wute community in Afienya–Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality, is a JoyNews Impact Maker Awardee for his wide-ranging contributions to education, infrastructure, and sports development.  

Impact & Achievements

He personally funded and constructed a full school complex from kindergarten to JHS 3, including a staff common room and a headmaster’s office. He later handed the facility over to the community, where it now serves close to 1,000 children who might otherwise have been out of school.

Beyond building the school, Felix continues to support its operations by paying the salaries of teachers. In 2025 alone, he also sponsored about 50 BECE graduates to continue their education at the senior high school level. His impact extends beyond education. He has funded and constructed key community infrastructure, including a modern public toilet, a police station, and a church, all of which have improved sanitation, safety, and social life in the area.

In sports development, Felix actively supports schools across the Ketu South Municipality. He provides equipment such as jerseys, footballs, volleyballs, stopwatches, and trophies to all five senior high schools in the district, helping to promote youth engagement and talent development. He is currently constructing a bungalow for the headmaster of Afienya–Aflao Community Senior High School and continues to support school infrastructure through a cement donation programme.

Recently, he supplied 600 bags of cement to institutions including St. Paul’s Senior High School and the Minor Seminary in Denu for renovation works. From education to sports and community infrastructure, Felix Akonta Akakpo has consistently invested his resources in development without seeking recognition. His sustained commitment to improving lives in Lente Wute and beyond forms the basis of his nomination for the JoyNews Impact Makers Award.
